Halloween Witchs Brew Punch - featured image

A visually stunning, non-alcoholic Halloween punch featuring a layered ombre effect created by pouring chilled lemon-lime soda over purple grape juice. It is easy to make, kid-friendly, and perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups 100% purple grape juice
  • 2 liters chilled lemon-lime soda (Sprite or 7Up)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • Purple gel food coloring
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional garnish: Lemon slices, lime wheels, or gummy worms

Instructions

  1. Chill the grape juice and lemon-lime soda in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to ensure they are very cold.
  2. Pour the grape juice into a large glass pitcher.
  3. Add the fresh lemon juice and lime juice to the pitcher and stir gently to combine.
  4. Add purple gel food coloring to the grape juice mixture if a deeper color is desired, stirring gently.
  5. Open the lemon-lime soda and let it sit for a minute to reduce excessive foaming.
  6. Hold a large spoon upside down just above the surface of the grape juice.
  7. Slowly pour the lemon-lime soda over the back of the spoon to create a layered effect without mixing the liquids immediately.
  8. Let the pitcher sit for 5 minutes to allow the ombre gradient to settle.
  9. Add ice cubes and optional garnishes just before serving.
  10. Ladle the punch into glasses, ensuring each glass gets a mix of the dark and light layers, and serve immediately.

Notes

For the best ombre effect, ingredients must be very cold to maintain density differences. Pour the soda slowly over the back of a spoon to prevent mixing. Do not stir the punch after adding the soda. The ombre effect lasts best for 1-2 hours. For an adult version, add 1 cup of vodka or rum to the grape juice base.
