A fast and flavorful weeknight dinner featuring salmon fillets seared in a savory-sweet glaze made with honey, soy sauce, garlic, and rice vinegar. Ready in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season lightly with black pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes until the honey is dissolved.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the oil shimmers.
  4. Place salmon fillets in the pan, skin-side down if keeping skin. Do not touch for 3 minutes to allow a crust to form.
  5. Flip the salmon and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Pour the honey garlic mixture into the pan around the fish. Tilt the pan and spoon the bubbling sauce over the fillets.
  7. Cook for 30-60 seconds until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the fish.
  8. Remove from heat, transfer to plates, and spoon remaining glaze over the top.
  9. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure salmon is patted dry before cooking to ensure a good sear. Do not overcook the salmon; it should be slightly translucent in the center as it will continue to cook after removal from heat. For a spicy kick, add sriracha. For a ginger twist, add fresh grated ginger to the glaze.
